Presidential Campaign Decided

The results are in— Senator Obama is the president-elect and first African American president. Democrats also took control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives. What does this mean for America? For you?

With the election over and our president- elect decided what do you expect to happen in the next year?

Your predictions, opinions, and expectations are welcomed!

Phew. It is finally over! Almost a year of campaigning, predictions and analysis and we finally have a winner. By the time election day came I was on CNN overload— who knew that a news channel could beat the dead horse!

This was a pretty exciting election. I would applaud both candidates for all they accomplished prior to even entering office ( and what out present President might not have done in office). Both candidates mobilized the masses. Never before have I heard of people waiting in hour long lines to vote. Or people rushing even until the last second before the polls closed. The youth vote has never been so strong. Yes, the masses might have been split between two parties, but still they were coming together for the common good of them self and their country.

So now that Obama is our president-elect, despite party lines, we need to continue to embrace this sense of hope and combined effort. We could not expect either candidate to solve all the nation’s problems, but we can anticipate that Obama will be a leader and in times of problems comfort us, bring us together, and hopefully lead out country to better times.

Hopefully, Obama can keep the nation’s interest and foster even more citizen participation. It would be a shame to see this newly found youth vote and over all citizen participation disappear now that the election is over.

Despite whether you were an Obama-Mama or a McCain fan its time to forget about party lines and continue to stay active and stay informed!
